Momentum Broker Solutions is delighted to announce its partnership with Bournville Rugby Football Club as the proud sponsor of the Under 14 Boys match kit. This collaboration underscores Momentum’s commitment to supporting grassroots sports and fostering community engagement.
Also known as ‘The Choccos’ thanks to its strong historical connections to the chocolate factory, Bournville Rugby Football Club, located in the heart of Birmingham, has a rich history of promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie among young athletes. The Minis & Juniors section plays a pivotal role in nurturing budding talents and instilling a passion for rugby from an early age.
The sponsorship from Momentum Broker Solutions will provide the Under 14 Boys team with a new and vibrant match kit, showcasing the company’s dedication to fostering community spirit and supporting the growth of local sports.
Steve Walton, Quality and Compliance Director at Momentum – and also coach of the Minis and Juniors team – believes the sponsorship now adds to the sense of pride on the pitch.
“Being an inner-city club, we have players from a wide variety of social economic backgrounds and the cost implications for families to keep teenagers playing rugby can be challenging to the point of being unaffordable. The sponsorship of the match kit allows all of our players to focus on playing the game they love, and they can go out on the pitch all dressed the same, as equals, with a sense of pride and belonging”.
Established in 1909, Bournville Rugby Football Club has been a cornerstone of the Birmingham sporting community. The club is renowned for its inclusive approach to rugby, focusing on development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
“Bournville RFC was founded by Cadburys for their workers. The owners were Quakers and were invested in social reform and helping people, encouraging the health benefits that this provided for their workers, which is why the area of Bournville was chosen and remains one of the leafier suburbs of Birmingham today.
“Since the Club’s move to Avery Fields, we now boast some of the best facilities available in the Midlands. 350-400 children turn up regularly on a Sunday to play, and the entire Under 14 Boys team consisting of 30-35 players will benefit from the kit sponsorship”.
Steve’s connection to the club was born out of his son who plays Tighthead Prop for the Under 14s Team. The children knew the kit was coming, but the reveal was kept as a surprise.
“The lads were buzzing about the arrival of their match kit. They walked into the changing room and saw it hanging there in pride of place. Words can’t describe how grateful they all are”.
The team will have their first competitive match, playing in the North Midlands Youth Plate Competition in their new kit after Christmas 2023.
