We are pleased to announced the launch of Momentum Equity Partners (MEP), a new joint venture with AUB designed to provide capital and support for our Broker Partners (ARs) looking to grow, acquire, or expand.
MEP enables our Broker Partners to unlock capital to fund acquisitions, fuel their next stage of growth or release an equity stake in their business. The new entity reflects our continued commitment to partnership and independence across its network.
Howard Pepper, Managing Director, said:
“Momentum Equity Partners sole purpose is to help our Broker Partners grow stronger businesses.
“Access to capital can often be the difference between standing still and moving forward. MEP provides that access, alongside the support and guidance needed to use it well. It gives our Broker Partners the means to act on opportunity, and the confidence to do it with a partner they trust.”
Mike Emmett, CEO and Managing Director of AUB Group, added:
“At AUB Group, we’re proud champions of the independent broker model. Momentum Equity Partners brings that belief to life – delivering capital, capability and hands-on support that help brokers accelerate growth without giving up their independence. Today, the Momentum network brings together some of the industry’s top performers, and we’re excited to empower them as they unlock new opportunities and build exceptional broking businesses.”
Through MEP, Broker Partners can access a range of funding options designed to meet their individual growth ambitions. These include:
- Starting loans – for new AR businesses establishing operations, with support for setup costs, compliance and technology infrastructure. Repayment structures are aligned with revenue ramp-up to ensure a sustainable start.
- Working capital loans – to help brokers manage cash flow, seasonal fluctuations, and short-term investments. These flexible facilities can fund projects such as recruitment, technology upgrades, or marketing activity.
- Recruitment financing – supporting ARs who wish to hire experienced Account Executives currently under restraint periods. MEP provides salary coverage and ramp-up costs, allowing talent acquisition ahead of time and securing future growth.
- Acquisition funding – enabling ARs to acquire other brokerages or books of business. MEP would take a minority position and offer strategic support during integration. This helps ARs rapidly increase revenue, market share and access to new talent.
- Equity investment – MEP taking a minority stake in an AR business to inject growth capital without creating full debt exposure. Investments are tied to clear growth plans, valuation alignment and shared governance principles.
- Succession planning – providing guidance on business valuation, identifying buyers and managing the transaction process to maximise sale value and ensure a smooth transition.
John Adey, Financial Director:
“It would be great to see people benefit from this across our broking community. Momentum Equity Partners creates real potential for growth, whether that is through acquiring new businesses, bringing in new talent, or building on an already successful foundation.”
Alistair Body, Business Development Director, adds:
“Momentum is in a unique position in the broker network space as the only one not seeking to acquire brokers. All our competitors are active in that space.
“We want to invest in good people who have ambition and drive. We do not want to take control or limit that ambition. We want them to drive their businesses forward, knowing we are here to help whenever needed.”
There are already around a dozen opportunities in the pipeline and there is a great opportunity for those brokers looking to join us in the future to take advantage.
Momentum Equity Partners strengthens our long-term commitment to being true partners in success, helping its Broker Partners grow with confidence, independence, and shared purpose.
