Momentum Meets S02E03: Steve Walton

In this episode, we welcome our very own Quality and Compliance Director, Steve Walton, to lift the lid on why his role is so important for us and our broker partners. Armed with years of experience, the recent headlines on restrictions for some principal firms by the FCA make some of the talking points, plus:

how the restrictions have impacted some networks

the importance of getting the AR model fit for purpose

how we keep the balance right between growth and control

FCA AR regime changes

One of the bigger news pieces discussed is around the Greensill Capital decline, which entered administration in 2021. Greensill, which lent money to companies by buying their invoices upfront, collapsed after credit insurers withdrew cover. In the podcast, Steve reiterates the importance of compliance:

The case of Greensill Capital serves as a cautionary tale for the financial industry, highlights the importance of robust risk management, diversification, transparency, and effective regulatory oversight to ensure stability and sustainability.

When Steve isn’t supporting our broker partners, he can be found on a field in Birmingham coaching the Minis and Juniors Team at his local rugby club.
